Drunk-driving laws tightened
Include ignition interlocks, increased penalties

Annie's Law, consisting of significant amendments to Ohio's drunk-driving laws, took effect in April. Named after Annie Rooney, a 36-year-old avid bicyclist who was killed by a drunk driver near Chillicothe in 2013, the law stiffens penalties but also introduces ignition interlock devices, or IIDs. The devices require a breath test before the vehicle can start, and also require drivers to pull over randomly to retest. Michael E. Cicero reviews the changes.

Jim Juliano will be a guest faculty member this summer for the Great Lakes Sports and Entertainment Law Academy of Case Western Reserve University's School of Law, where he is an adjunct professor. The online academy is offered in affiliation with Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where Juliano has been a lecturer on sports law.

FingerCheck, a provider of payroll software, quoted Fitzsimmons in a story on its website on the status of the proposed changes to federal overtime rules that included raising the salary floor for exempt employees.
